“Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life."
(John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae)
The Faith Formation Program at St. John Neumann Parish strives to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to its students. St. John Neumann (SJN) parish is committed to assisting families in the beautiful task of molding young disciples in the faith. As an active parishioner of SJN, youth are expected to be enrolled in faith formation beginning in 1st grade through Confirmation. After Confirmation, we hope that teens continue to participate in our Faith Formation Program, stay involved in our youth ministry, WACY, and volunteer for other ministries when they feel called. Faith Formation is a lifelong process!
General Guidelines:
All families are encouraged to participate in faith formation classes.
All students must have a copy of their Baptismal Certificates on file with the Religious Education office before they can attend classes.
Confirmation students must also have copies of their Baptism & First Holy Communion certificates on file with the Religious Education office.
Education in the faith begins at home in the "Domestic Church." The parents are the primary teachers of the faith. St. John Neumann offers family faith formation sessions for all parishioners and their families..students in grades PreK-12 and their families, teen discipleship groups through WACY, and adult discipleship/ book study groups to help foster a growing faith. We also provide opportunities for each person to receive the Sacraments and grow in greater communion with our Lord.
This year, we are offering a parish-wide potluck, family-centered faith formation experience. Each month will include two potluck family sessions and one home-based lesson. There will also be an opportunity for families to participate in a family Mass where families participate in all areas of the liturgy (reading, greeting, altar serving, singing, etc.). FOOD, FAITH, AND FAMILY FUN ALL IN ONE!
Please register online HERE, or use the orange registration form at the back of each church. Completed forms may be returned in the collection or dropped off at the office. Free will offering is welcome.
